The mouse Gustav is knitted on a long circular needle size 2.5 with a little bit of patience. It can also be mentioned that the mouse is knitted from the top down (i.e. from the bulb to the toes), and the knitting tension will vary depending on which yarn you choose to knit with. In order for the mouse to be firm and nice, it may be worth using yarn with a similar knitting tension as suggested below.

I recommend knitting with the "Magic Loop" technique, as the pattern is adapted for this.

The equipment you need in brief:
Long circular needle size 2.5 (min. 80 cm)
Thin black yarn or embroidery floss to embroider the muzzle, eyes and whiskers.
About 15 grams of leftover yarn and some cotton wool
